‘Fire’

Inspiration was taken from John Maines’s ‘Fire’, the last of the Howden Minster granite sculptures, which was unveiled in 2008.
A variety of exciting materials and techniques including felting, fusing, and stitch, drawing and silk painting, were explored with the students during the artist’s residency. This has created a tactile, lively and energising effect associated with the heat and visual fascination of fire. The textile wall hanging will be displayed in the local community, rotating between the schools, Howden Minster, Shire Hall and other local venues.
