Installation
The ‘Tree of Memories’ woven from willow, represent the heart of South Cave village life and its community, with its roots firmly planted in the Town Hall. Prior to the South Cave Art Festival, residents were asked to contribute memories, past and present, of social and sporting events, family occasions or personal recollections that illustrated the diverse range of activities and history of the village.
The memories: a recollection, a child’s drawing of something from home, an object that represents an activity, a pressed flower grown in a garden, a photograph, were all hung on ribbons. During the festival the public had the opportunity to interact with the installation by creating personalised memory cards and/or comments on the feedback wall.
