Symbolised by the 'British Bulldog' Hooligan illustrates the social drinker and the consequences of what is seen as an acceptable habit and a harmless bit of fun. Drink is used to escape from mundane lifestyles and low expectations: anaesthetic. Binge drinking, a habitual ritual is causing many problems: alcohol induced bravado leads to antisocial behaviour and breakdown in relationships and ethical values can swiftly follow social deprivation, not to mention the health problems. It has ben noted that many in their late twenties and early to mid-thirties are now suffering health problems previously associated with hardworking hard-drinking men in their sixties.
Meanwhile 'Hooligan' is unrepentant and doesn't know what all the fuss is about?
